Sickroom #14 ¡¶ Sickroom #14¡·, a ¡°Sickroom¡±?¡°The 14th sickroom¡±? What kind of sickness in this room? What is it in this room? How about the relationship between the room and audients? A so strange room or an actual room? Shanghai Zuhe Niao gives us so much curiosity. As the first post contemporary dance company in shanghai, Zuhe Niao got the ZKB Award (the only one winner in this festival) in Zurich theather Spektakel in Switzerland in 2006. And now Zuhe Niao cooperates with GuChen multimedia art studio for the new production < Sickroom #14 > a physical theater and 10 days multimedia art exhibition, they will launch < Sickroom #14 > in November in DDM Art Gallery. Hemorrhoid is kind of sickness, but not morbidity. If you got hemorrhoid, and feel you can¡¯t live anymore, even want to die, which becomes morbidity. What we focus on in <Sickroom #14> is the abnormal psychology in personal realistic being, and reappear a real abnormal space (We call heterotopias) in DDM. In the group of Sickroom #14, the artists and performers will work together to reappear some abnormal actions which are from their real life and experience. Some experience you may not feel abnormal in your real life, which is so weak that you even can¡¯t catch it. For example: maybe you are one kind of person, who has to face so tough competition, you are so nervous for some chance, you even try to do anything just for it. Will you get some feeling about morbidity from it? Another example: Maybe you are one kind of person, who have to face strait life and job, and in fact you have to do a lot what is not you want to do, and then what you can do is be alone to cure your tender mind by yourself. Do you think ¡°That is abnormal¡±? What we do is to blow up these abnormal minds to let you feel it. Our life should be much more comfortable without these abnormal experience and feeling. However different person has different standard of ¡°What is the better life¡±, we will lead you to feel and search your own way. In < Sickroom #14> you can¡¯t find the result but you will see a lot of your real life piece and you will think by yourself, what we do is just push you to think, we can¡¯t give you an answer. In < Sickroom #14 >, you can¡¯t get a familiar feeling in your habital aesthetics. It will bring you a totally new concept of theater and body performance. The director gives up to use the professional dancers and actors, but change to use more normal persons on the stage. It also will change your mind of ¡°physical performance¡±, and push you think more about the experimental performanc. Because of the different background of the performers, <Sickroom #14 > won¡¯t be a kind of exquisite performance, you can¡¯t get a similar feeling as a professional dance performance or a theater performance, but you will find some new understanding about ¡°what means beautiful?¡± In <Sickroom #14 >, we want to tell you ¡°what is true in our life¡±. ou can¡¯t feel so exciting and ardent in < Sickroom #14 >, but you will feel ¡°That is a kind of itch just like being pricked¡±. It seems a dream, but you feel you are inside; it runs across you, makes you a little upset, and push you to connect and think yourself.
